LinkedIn session – How accessible and inclusive are your events?

The Exhibition Think Tank Club is looking forward to welcoming Erik Heemskerk, Mr Accessibility &Inclusivity and founder of the Global Accessibility & Inclusivity Network, for an important session on how accessible and inclusive events are:

• From Erik’s experience, understanding how he became interested in the accessibility of events
• Best practice and what kind of facilities and services are important
• How to make your own events more accessible
• How to promote and communicate accessibility at events

Erik is able to talk about what we all take for granted, and to also understand the other side and how important it is that events are inclusive and offer accessibility to all. The purpose of the session is to raise awareness and make you reflect on your events. Covering the points above, this talk will give you a better understanding and information about what to do to improve inclusivity and accessibility, and how to communicate effectively accessibility at events:

• Erik Heemskerk, Mr Accessibility &Inclusivity and founder of the Global Accessibility & Inclusivity Network

Bio:

Erik is a seasoned and very successful event marketeer with over 20 years of experience in the international events business, having been involved in launching and organizing events in a great variety of industries and also having been recognized as an AEO-award winner for the best launch event in 2013. His life suddenly changed at 48  when he was struck by a cerebral haemorrhage, not only affecting him (also a huge impact on his family), causing a half sided paralysis of the left side of his body, making him wheelchair bound for longer distances. To make the best of this disruption he decided to combine his career long experience in organizing events and his new experience as a person with reduced mobility going forward. Hence the reason to found the Global Accessibility and Inclusivity Network (GAIN), which is in the middle of developing all kinds of initiatives to make this world more accessible and inclusive for those that suffer from a physical handicap
